Actor Headshots

It all starts with a Headshot

Actor headshots are one of the most important marketing tools you can have. Casting directors get hundreds to thousands of submissions per role, depending on factors such as platform used, location, role type, submission time, etc.

Your headshot needs to look professional and stand out by communicating essence, skill, and castability with undeniable authenticity. Being authentic creates your personal brand, which will make you stand out from the rest.

Make It Relevant

A good actor headshot isn’t about which one you think is a good picture with a great smile. It’s about conveying a clear and intentional type of roll you want to play (for example, a cop, leading man/woman, best friend, etc). It should be expressive, especially the eyes. It should have thoughtful styling, and it should have genuine connection.

Feeling the role you are portraying is better than acting it out or posing to achieve an authentic expression.

Be Yourself

Especially for newer actors, roles that align with your natural personality are often easier to access emotionally, which leads to stronger and more believable performances. Early in a career, playing roles that fit your “type” helps you get cast more consistently. Once you’re known and trusted, you can branch out. When your personality aligns with your roles, your headshot, demo reel, and audition vibe feel cohesive to casting directors.

I’ll work with you to make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera so your true personality can express itself . We’ll focus on expression and emotions and compliment it with the right lighting and background.
